A Notice From The MPWC In Regards To The Pennsauken Sanitary Landfill

The Merchantville Pennsauken Water Commission (MPWC) has reviewed the classification exception area (CEA) letter that some of you received for the Pennsauken Sanitary Landfill. The CEA request lists five contaminants of concern including 1,2 dichloropropane, Ammonia, Arsenic, Benzene and Tetrachloroethylene. Currently, MPWC tests for four of these contaminants. All of our results reported by our certified third party lab over the last 10 years have shown that there is no detectable concentration of any of these contaminants in our drinking water. Ammonia is not a regulated drinking water contaminant. However, based on the treatment technologies in place, ammonia would be removed if present. For more information about the safety of your drinking water please contact the MPWC office of the superintendent at (856) 663-0043.
