Celebrating National Donut Day

Today, June 2, is National Donut Day. In honor of this special celebration, Postmates, America’s most popular universal delivery app, partnered with the data scientists at NationalToday.com to ask 1,000 Americans about their donut-eating habits.

Here are some of the interesting things they found from their tasty research:

Ninety-six Percent of Americans are Nuts for Donuts

Fifty-six percent of Americans absolutely love donuts, and 40 percent like them. Only three percent of Americans claim to dislike donuts, while one percent hate them.

America’s Top Five Favorite Donut Chains

Obviously, some of these places aren’t local, but the top two are…

  1. Krispy Kreme (42 percent)
  2. Dunkin’ Donuts (40 percent)
  3. Shipley Donuts (4 percent)
  4. Tim Hortons (3 percent)
  5. Voodoo Donuts (3 percent)

American’s Top Five Favorite Donut Flavors

  1. Glazed (28 percent)
  2. Boston cream (17 percent)
  3. Chocolate frosted (16 percent)
  4. Jelly filled (11 percent)
  5. Chocolate cake (7 percent)
