Intermediate School Holds Cabaret Performance

By Jaylin Fisher and Kyla Marshall

On June 7, the Pennsauken Intermediate School’s vocal program, directed by Ms. Nelson, performed a cabaret. A cabaret is a form of entertainment, featuring music, song, dance, recitation, or drama. Some of the headline performances in the cabaret were “The Wizard and I,” by Grace Raymond; “When Will My Life Begin,” by Layla Serrano; “Popular,” by Amelia White; and “It’s A Hard Knock Life,” which was performed by the entire cast.

Auditions were held early in the year; selected fifth and sixth grade students were handpicked by Ms. Nelson. The entire cast had a meeting to discuss the options for the vocal program performance. As a group, they decided that a cabaret would be the best choice. Each student was able to pick a song from their favorite musical.

The cabaret was well attended by school administration, parents, teachers, and other students. Special thanks goes out to Linda Tran and Michelle Nguyen for their hard work off stage, running the curtains and sound. In all, the cabaret was an amazing experience for both the audience and cast.
