Pennsauken Police’s Nettleton Sworn In As Captain

At December’s public meeting of the Township Committee, John Nettleton was officially sworn in as a captain of the Pennsauken Police Department.

“It’s a huge honor for me,” says Nettleton. “I hope that my work in the everyday operations of the department will help to provide the best services to the residents of the Township.”

Last month, John Nettleton was officially sworn in as a captain of the Pennsauken Police Department.

“John is a great guy and an excellent officer,” adds Bill Orth, member of Pennsauken’s Township Committee and the director of public safety. “He truly deserves this.”

Captain Nettleton took his oath in front a large crowd of supporters, including family, friends, fellow officers and other first responders.

“It was extremely humbling,” says Nettleton. “My first partner from the police academy; friends of mine from the prosecutor’s office of Camden County; the Sherriff’s Department; Chief Palumbo; and my fellow officers all came out here tonight. I really appreciate their being here.”

Nettleton has been on the force in Pennsauken since July 1, 1996. Last May, he was a recipient of the Richard Dawson Award for Meritorious Service, which annually honors officers that demonstrate exemplary performance of duty. In 2016, he received the Chief’s Award for Leadership for his work with Team Pennsauken, riding his bicycle from Galloway Township to Washington, D.C. during the Police Unity Tour, in remembrance of fallen Pennsauken Township police officers.

Congratulations to Captain Nettelton; thank you for your service to the Pennsauken community.
