Pennsauken’s McFarland To Receive Camden County Freedom Medal

Pennsauken resident Mary Anne McFarland is among 14 Camden County residents being honored for their selfless contributions to improving their community at the 2020 Camden County Freedom Medal Ceremony. The award, created by the Freeholder Board in 2001, is presented to civic leaders who demonstrate the ideals and actions that reflect the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

MLK Sunday Supper Event Held At Urban Promise

On Feb. 10, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Volunteer Center of South Jersey, with event partner Epsilon Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is hosting a MLK Day Sunday Supper Event at Urban Promise, 3700 Rudderow St., Pennsauken. This event will consist of a light supper and a great conversation on the topic of economic opportunity.

Registration for the event is required, as seating is limited. Admission price is $5. However, the event is free with a donation of five items from the following list: soap, shampoo, wash cloths, bath towels, sunscreen, hairbrushes, combs, razors, underwear, socks, and feminine hygiene products. All items received will be donated to the Joseph’s House and other local shelters in Camden County.

Pennsauken residents Davon Clark and Rick Taylor were among 13 Camden County residents honored for their work in the community during the 2018 Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Medal Awards. Held last month at the Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken, the annual event – which has taken place since 2001 – recognized those who have selflessly contributed their time and effort to better their community in conjunction with the goals of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
