Mayor DiBattista Addresses Public Regarding Winter Storm

Senior Scam Presentation On November 2

As part of an ongoing commitment to public safety, Pennsauken Township is reaching out to senior citizens about how to avoid scams that are specifically targeting their community. A special presentation hosted by the Township, Pennsauken Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2:00 p.m., at the Homestead Youth Association, located at 4771 Willow Ave. in Pennsauken.

“Our concern is to make sure our seniors are prepared for any scams, anybody trying to take advantage of them,” said Township Committeeman Marco DiBattista, who serves as Pennsauken’s Director of Public Safety and the Liaison to Seniors. “We want to make sure that everybody is aware of what scams are out there and what to do if something happens.”

After the presentation, seniors will be able to have their questions answered about the topic. Light refreshments will also be served.

And while a growing town is a very good thing, it can be difficult to find a place to park. Our department has started to see an increase in issues related to parking on Township streets, some of which I’ll be sharing in this article.

First Responders Sharing The Importance Of Service To Community

Last month, Pennsauken’s first responders held both a Junior Police Academy and a Junior Fire Academy. Each summer, young people receive an up close look at the roles of these dedicated men and women in a fun and educational environment. Following a cooperative investigation, two men have been charged in connection to a shooting that occurred on June 30, 2022 in Pennsauken, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Pennsauken Acting Police Chief Phil Olivo.

Family Raises Funds For Funeral Expenses Of Hit-And-Run Victim

Pennsauken Police Investigating Fatal Hit And Run

In a message shared via social media, the Pennsauken Township Police Department enlisted the help of the community to find a hit and run driver that killed a pedestrian in the early morning hours of Oct. 19.

“The Pennsauken Township Police Department and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a single motor vehicle,” wrote Pennsauken Police via an online statement.

At 12:06 a.m. this morning, a vehicle described as a silver color SUV, believed to be a Mercedes-Benz between the model years of 2002 and 2005, collided with a pedestrian on the southbound side of Rt. 130 at the Drexel Ave. intersection. The victim, currently only identified as a 32-year-old male, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle experienced heavy front-end damage and fled the scene of the accident.

Anyone who has information regarding the crash or the fleeing vehicle involved in the hit and run is asked to contact Sgt. Kern or Ptl. J. Martinez of the Pennsauken Township Police Department’s Traffic Division at (856) 488-0080 x3301.

Community’s Help Needed In Stopping Illegal Fireworks

While fireworks are normally associated with the Fourth of July, there are some people taking their use to the extreme. For weeks now, communities throughout South Jersey are experiencing the excessive use of fireworks late into the evening. They’re coming from all over: Philly, Camden, Palmyra, Merchantville, and right here in Pennsauken. Not only are they disturbing the peace, their use is promoting dangerous behavior in our neighborhoods.

Three Charged For Kidnapping Man In North Jersey After Being Caught In Pennsauken

Three people have been charged in connection with kidnapping a man and driving him to three banks to withdraw money, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni, Pennsauken Police Chief John Nettleton and Belmar Police Chief Tina Scott.

A woman became trapped this morning under a River Line light rail train at the 36th Street Station in Pennsauken.
