Free Sports Physicals Held On August 6

Students attending Phifer Middle School and Pennsauken High School who plan on participating in sports during the school year are required to have an annual physical. The Pennsauken School District will be offering free physicals to these students on Monday, Aug. 6, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., at the nurse’s office at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd.

Even if you don’t know if you will participate in a sport, we recommend getting one so you don’t have to worry if you make a last minute decision to go out for a team.

Forms that need to completed prior to these physicals are available at Pennsauken High School’s athletic office or can be downloaded at Pennsauken.net. It is highly recommended that people show up early to ensure that all parent sections of the paperwork are filled out correctly.

Stotesbury Cup Regatta Comes To Cooper River

This weekend, Camden County’s Cooper River will host the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the world’s largest high school rowing event. Due to the region’s recent storms and rainy weather, officials are moving the regatta from its usual location, the Schuylkill River, out of concern for participant safety.

Big Three Basketball Tourney Held On March 9

The Pennsauken School District is hosting its first-ever Big 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 9. Held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the main gym at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd., come out and see your favorite teachers and staff square off in an entertaining three-on-three basketball tournament.

New Jersey Rams Start Playoff Run Tonight

The New Jersey Rams, Pennsauken’s developmental, semi-pro football team finished their regular season in first place and is headed to the playoffs.

The Rams’ first playoff game is this evening, Saturday, Oct. 21, against the Cecial County Chaos from Maryland. The Pennsauken-based team is playing at their home field, which is adjacent to the PYAA athletic fields on Elm Ave.

Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are just $5 for adults, $2 for children. Concessions and team memorabilia will also be available for purchase.

Playing Pickleball In Pennsauken

Members of the Pennsauken community can take advantage of free lessons for a fun sport with an unusual name.

Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong; it can be played both indoors and outside; and it can be played whether you’re in eighth grade or your eighth decade. But don’t let the name fool you – no pickles are actually used in game play.

STEP Soccer To Hold Summer Training Camp

STEP Soccer Summer Camp is back with a whole new training curriculum to help children ages 4-16 create a passion for the game of soccer. STEP Soccer was founded in 2016 by Pennsauken’s own Frank Tweneboa, Kutubu “Kip” Kpolie, and Billy Snyder. This collaboration of experience and mentorship has been brought together to pass down to the next generations of leaders on and off the field.

Sessions are held at the Pennsauken Recreational Sports Complex, located on Bethel and Westfield avenues. Camp dates are as follows:

  • Monday, June 26 through Thursday, June 30, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., ages 8-16
  • Monday, July 10 through Thursday, July 13, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., ages 8-16
  • Monday, Aug. 7 through Thursday, Aug. 10, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., ages 8-16
  • Saturday mornings, July 1 through Aug. 19, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., ages 4-7

National Learn-To-Row Day Held On June 3

As part of USRowing’s 16th annual National Learn-to-Row Day, the Cooper Rowing Club is hosting a fun, free introduction to rowing on the water on Saturday, June 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Camden County Boathouse, 7050 N Park Dr., Pennsauken.

Learn the basics of rowing, with lessons both on and off the water, in a relaxed and safe atmosphere. This free event is open to individuals ages 12 and up. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent. No experience is necessary to come enjoy the outdoors!
