The Start Of Summer And New Beginnings In Pennsauken

The Summer Solstice on June 21 is traditionally celebrated as a “new beginning,” a time to start fresh. The month of June holds quite a few new beginnings for Pennsauken.

Field Day At Fine School

Field Day is the fun culminating activity to end the school year and get students in the mood for summer! Students and teachers at Fine School enjoyed their Field Day activities with fun, games, and laughter.

Extras Needed For PYACT Show

PYACTExtras are needed for the Pennsauken Youth Action Committee’s performance of “Elf The Musical Jr.” Adapted for children ages 7 to 14, the show is based on the popular motion picture featuring Will Ferrell, James Caan, and Zooey Deschanel.

Rehearsals and performances will be at the Pennsauken Intermediate School in the air-conditioned auditorium/music room. Rehearsals will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 2:15 – 5:00 p.m., starting June 21 and running through July 21. Performances will be Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 at 7:00 p.m., as well as Sunday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m.

Meadowbrook Memories

Today is one of those fondly nostalgic yet undeniably somber days. After the Labor Day weekend, Meadowbrook Swim Club, which has been part of the Pennsauken community for 51 years, will be locking the gate and closing for good. For many kids living in and around the Pennsbrook part of town, myself and my siblings included, Meadowbrook Swim Club was a home away from home during the summertime. And while it’s sad to come to the realization that there may not be a place for Meadowbrook Swim Club in today’s hyper-active, activity-filled, always-online world, there are a lot of fond memories that rise to the surface.

Both children and adults can add more fun and excitement to the summer months with entertaining and educational programs offered through Pennsauken’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
