Focusing On Things To Be Truly Thankful For

Not that you can tell, but I wrote this column a day late and a dollar short. But, my ever-wonderful boss and friend, Frank Sinatra, understands why, and so here it is – and my extended deadline was yet another thing for me to be thankful for in this month of giving thanks.

I am frequently faced with scratching out a column, due in minutes. I sit, staring at a blank page, and nothing comes popping out. Not so this month! I am forced to reign in my enthusiasm and try desperately to separate the cascading thoughts pouring out of my feverish brain.

Well, we sold every crumb of the cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and more so many of you donated. Thanks to everyone who made this year’s bake sale a tasty success. And considering how fast bags of books, DVDs and CDs were sold, there have to be a lot of happy readers, listeners and movie aficionados right now in Pennsauken and Merchantville. If you missed out, take heart: there’s always next fall.

Pennsauken Township Seeking Professional Services For 2016

The Township of Pennsauken is currently soliciting statements of qualification from applicants for appointment to various professional positions. Responses should address the general criteria and mandatory minimum criteria for the position sought. All responses will be treated as confidential and reviewed only by the governing body, unless otherwise required by law.

Responses must be received in the Office of the Township Clerk, 5605 North Crescent Blvd., Pennsauken, NJ 08110, no later than 12:00 p.m., December 1, 2015. All responses shall be opened and announced publicly, immediately thereafter by the Township Administrator or his representative. Responses will be reviewed by the governing body. All appointments will be announced at a public meeting. Unless otherwise noted, appointments shall be for calendar year of 2016 or until a successor is duly appointed and are subject to the execution of an appropriate contract. Late submissions will not be accepted and will be returned unopened.

Pennsauken CERT Assists First Responders, Residents

What is CERT? It sounds like the popular breath mint, but it’s not. In fact, it’s something very important for our community.

Any Garment Cleaners Offers Discounts To Veterans

During the month of November, current and past military members who present their military ID to Any Garment Cleaners will have any clothing item dry cleaned and pressed for just 99 cents. There is no limit on the number of pieces and visits.

After November’s promotion, current and past servicemen and women who present their military ID will receive 15 percent off the price of their dry cleaning order.

Merchantville Woman’s Club Celebrates 120th Anniversary

In celebration of the organization’s 120th anniversary, the Woman’s Club of Merchantville will be hosting a special guest day on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 12:00 p.m. at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Ave., Merchantville, NJ.
