Freeholder Cappelli Hosts Virtual Town Hall for Small Businesses

Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr., will be moderating a Facebook Live town hall event intended for small business owners navigating the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Cappelli will be joined by Congressman Donald Norcross, New Jersey Small Business Association Director, Alfred Titone, and the vice president of the Southern New Jersey Development Council, Jane Asselta.

COVID-19 Testing Site Closed Due To Storms And High Winds

The COVID-19 testing site located at Cooper’s Poynt Waterfront Park in Camden will be temporarily closed today, Monday, April 13, due to a severe storm with high winds reaching 50-60 mph. Patients are asked to visit one of the other clinic sites operated by Cooper University Health Care or Virtua Health until the site reopens for its normal operating hours on Tuesday.

Governor Murphy Orders New Rules, Restrictions At Supermarkets

Yesterday, Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 122 imposing additional mitigation requirements on essential retail businesses, including supermarkets, and other essential industries in New Jersey. The order also ceases all non-essential construction projects in the state.

Veterans Benefits Administration Hosts Tele-Town Hall

The Veterans Benefits Administration will be hosting a tele-town hall today, April 7, at 4:00 p.m. to provide the latest benefits updates to veterans and to maintain an open line of communication.

The event will feature remarks from Under Secretary for Benefits Paul Lawrence, as well as answers to questions from actual veterans in our community.

“With federal stimulus efforts and a host of measures intended to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, it is important for veterans to understand how their benefits will or will not be impacted,” said Freeholder Melinda Kane, liaison to the Office of Veterans Affairs. “If you have any questions about your benefits as a veteran, you are encouraged to call in at 4 p.m. or submit questions in advance of the event.”

Participants are encouraged to dial in ten minutes prior to 4:00 p.m. at 844-227-7557. Some questions will be asked live during the call, however participants may also submit questions in advance on the LinkedIn page of Under Secretary Lawrence.

Kids Can Win Great Easter Prizes

All Around Pennsauken is partnering with the Penn Queen Diner for a special contest, just in time for Easter!

Local children ages 5 to 12 have a chance to win one of four Easter-themed baskets. They can also feed their sweet tooth by guessing how many chocolate kisses and peanut butter eggs are in glass jars. The child with the closest guest gets to win the jar… and the candy!

CDC Recommends Cloth Face Covers to Prevent Spread of COVID-19

In recent days, the Centers for Disease Control has issued new guidance regarding cloth face covers for general use to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The CDC now recommends that all Americans wear cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (grocery stores, pharmacies, etc…), and especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
