Public Meeting On Transit-Oriented Development In Pennsauken Planned For May 21

The Pennsauken Transit Center Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Study Project Team invites community members to a open house-style public meeting on Tuesday, May 21, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Municipal Building, 5605 N. Crescent Blvd. This meeting aims to gather valuable feedback on making the area surrounding the Pennsauken Transit Center more welcoming, connected, and pedestrian-friendly. Housing options will be a key focus of the proposed improvements, and community input is crucial for integrating these effectively.

The project, led by NJ TRANSIT’s Transit Friendly Planning Program staff, underscores the importance of community engagement in envisioning TOD at the Pennsauken Transit Center. Throughout 2024, the team will be actively participating in community events to ensure a broad range of voices are heard.

Merchantville Holds 150th Anniversary Celebration

Merchantville celebrates its 150th anniversary on May 18 and 19. To mark the occasion, Borough leaders and a host of volunteers have orchestrated an incredible program of events to note the history, accomplishments, and future of the town. Led by Mayor Ted Brennan, the effort began over a year before the anniversary and included a number of signature events to drum up excitement for the town’s sesquicentennial.

The anniversary weekend includes a parade and a traditional birthday celebration. Residents and surrounding communities are invited to take part in the celebration. The parade includes local marching bands, mummers and a caravan of creative floats designed by Merchantville’s clubs and organizations.
