The Pennsauken Environmental Commission and the Township’s Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a spring clean-up and nature day on Saturday, March 21. Held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., volunteers will be split between two locations: Burrough-Dover House at 9201 Burrough-Dover Ln., and Tippin’s Pond, located at the end of Cove Rd. In addition to the clean-up, kids will also be able to enjoy some fun nature-related activities at both areas.
“Pennsauken Township puts an emphasis on keeping outdoor areas free of litter and debris. This community clean-up brings our neighbors together to beautify our town,” explained Pennsauken Mayor Patrick Olivo. “Each year, our clean-ups continue to make a positive impact. We hope to see a lot of our Pennsauken residents ready to roll up their sleeves to lend a hand, and that the kids in attendance enjoy some nature day crafts.”
“Our clean-up events are great volunteer opportunities for community groups looking to give back, as well as students in need of service hours,” said Juan Vazquez, parks and recreation coordinator for Pennsauken Township. “We encourage everyone to sign up as soon as possible.”
Each person, family, or team participating in the clean-up will be provided with trash bags, a bucket, gloves (one size fits all), and trash pickers. It is suggested that volunteers wear boots, along with old clothes (long-sleeved shirts and pants), as individuals may get muddy and dirty. These cleanups may be canceled or postponed due to weather up to 24 hours prior to the event.
If a volunteer feels ill within 24 hours of the event; comes in contact with someone who has the flu, COVID-19, RSV, or norovirus; or has personally tested positive for these viruses or is awaiting test results, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at the contact information below and stay home.
