Join the Pennsauken Historical Society on Sunday, Sept. 6, as we step into the classroom and explore how education has changed over the past 250 years.

Visit the historic Burrough-Dover House in Pennsauken and discover what it was like to be a student during colonial times. Learn about the lessons children studied, the tools they used, and try your own hand at writing with a traditional quill pen.

This special program will also highlight the remarkable story of Miss Charlotte Dover, the last member of the Dover family to live in the Burrough-Dover House. Charlotte grew up within these historic walls before dedicating her life to education as a teacher and later a Camden City school principal. Her lifelong love of learning and support for preserving her family’s home helped ensure that future generations could experience this important piece of Pennsauken’s history.

Enjoy guided tours of one of Camden County’s oldest homes, learn about the families who called it home for more than two centuries, and celebrate the rich educational heritage of our community.

History isn’t just found in books — sometimes it lives in the very house where a teacher once called home.

Admission is FREE. Donations are always appreciated and help preserve Pennsauken’s historic treasures.

Burrough-Dover House is located at 9201 Burrough-Dover Lane, located off Haddonfield Rd. near the Wyndam Rd. traffic light.
