Yesterday, students at Carson School took part in a special event celebrating the voting process by holding a mock presidential election.
The mock election was developed by Mrs. Savino and Tryon’s gifted classes. Students presented the idea to the school’s principal, Mrs. Joyce; employed Google Documents to record and tally the results; and helped students with the voting process. Students could choose from the two main presidential candidates and even got a sticker for voting.
Throughout the day, election results were announced over the loud speaker to help simulate how different parts of the country receive updates on the election after polls close in areas with different time zones.
So how did it all break down? One candidate received 83 percent of the vote with a decisive victory. We’ll have to see how this fun and educational event reflect the actual results of today’s general election.
