Beginning May 4, New Jersey law will ban retailers, food service businesses, and grocery stores from providing single-use plastic and paper bags to customers. In addition, this new law will prevent food service businesses from providing polystyrene foam containers. Here is a quick primer on how this change impacts Pennsauken residents.
Health And Wellness Fair Held April 30
True Covenant Worship Center, located at 4415 Marlton Pike in Pennsauken, is holding its first annual health and wellness fair on Saturday, April 30. Held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the event features healthcare screenings, family resources, vendors, free food, entertainment, a bouncy house, and much more.

Shredding Event Held In Pennsauken On May 14
The Pennsauken Environmental Commission is hosting its annual shredding event at the Park Avenue School Campus, 8201 Park Ave., on Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
This paper-only shredding event is solely for Pennsauken and Merchantville residents, not businesses; those who attend must bring an I.D. Items for shredding should be placed in the rear of the vehicle, such as a trunk, truck bed, or an unoccupied back seat.
Got Cut? Barbershop Reopens For Business

After being closed down due to the pandemic, a son on dialysis with a rare kidney disease, and a fire underneath his barbershop, no one would blame Joey Lopez, owner of Got Cut?, from walking away for good. But the thought never crossed his mind; and Got Cut? Barbershop is once again open for business after two years of challenges.
Celebrate Trails Day Held April 23
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and The Circuit Trails are hosting a free event on Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 23.
Held from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Eclipse Brewing, 25 East Park Ave. in Merchantville, the celebration includes free food for the first 50 attendees, courtesy of Red’s Rolling Restaurant; pony rides; bike tune ups (be sure to bring your bicycle); live music (900 songs by request); an exercise and nutrition class from Movement 4 Wellness; great giveaways; and an opportunity to learn more about the growing Burlington-Camden Trail.
Hosted on the fourth Saturday of April, Celebrate Trails Day is an annual spring celebration of America’s trails. Started by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy in 2013, the celebration encourages people across the country to get outside and enjoy the nation’s exceptional trails and trail systems.
PYAA Football And Cheer Registration Now Open
Registration for Pennsauken Youth Athletic Activities (PYAA) fall football and cheerleading is held every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the PYAA Field House, 3501 Elm Ave., in Pennsauken.
Local Children Can Nominate The Best Mom, Dad or Guardian In Town

Once again, Pennsauken children have a chance to put a spotlight on the special people in their lives.
An annual contest, children in grades three through eight living in Pennsauken can nominate their mom, dad, or guardian as the “best in town.” Participating students are still required to write a creative letter as part of their nomination, but starting this year, judges are encouraging kids to add a little extra.
Pennsauken’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt Held On April 9

After a one-year hiatus, Pennsauken families can once again grab their baskets for the Township’s annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Sponsored by the Pennsauken Youth Action Committee, this year’s egg hunt will take place on Saturday, April 9, 10:00 a.m., at the Walt Nicgorski Sports Complex, located at Powell and Collins avenues. The Easter Egg Hunt is open to children up to age 9.
