Donation Drive Held For Pennsauken Community Cats
Now through Aug. 30, Pennsauken Township is holding a donation drive for “Pennsauken’s Community Cats,” an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving public health and managing our feral cat population. Their efforts includes trapping, spaying and neutering, as well as adoption efforts when possible. It is through these efforts that the Township is not only enhancing the health and safety of our neighborhoods, but also reducing the financial burden on taxpayers.
Pennsauken’s Community Cats is in need of donations to keep their efforts going strong.

Revolutionary Soldiers’ Game Day At Historic Burrough-Dover House
While soldiers marched out to fight for or against American independence from 1775 to 1783, they spent more time waiting for their next duty or resting afterwards than they did in battle. While waiting, they drilled, they did chores, and they played.
Visit historic Burrough-Dover House off Haddonfield Rd. in Pennsauken on Sunday, Aug. 4, from noon to 4:00 p.m. to find out about the recreations of soldiers of the American Revolution. Re-enactors of a number of troops of the Revolution will demonstrate the games and amusements that went from camp to battlefield and from colony to state. With no AI, no internet, and no electricity, these pastimes amused and relieved when relief was most needed: from shut-the-box to the captain’s mistress. From cards to chess to farkle to lawn games, you can also be a player, 18th century style!
Everclear To Play Cooper River Park On August 17
By Frank Sinatra, AAP Editor
EDITOR’S NOTE: Because of the inclement weather, this concert has been rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17.
In the ‘90s, the alternative rock band Everclear made a name for themselves with their raw energy, powerful lyrics, and catchy musical hooks. Coming out of Portland, Ore., the band’s first three albums with Capitol Records, “Sparkle and Fade,” “So Much for the Afterglow,” and “Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile,” found mainstream success; and iconic songs like “Father of Mine” and “Santa Monica,” continues to be heard on the radio today. Everclear founder/lead singer/guitarist/song writer Art Alexakis is bringing the band to Pennsauken, playing a free performance on Saturday, Aug. 17, as part of the Twilight Concert Series at Cooper River Park. During a recent phone interview with All Around Pennsauken, Alexakis reflected on over three decades of performing to fans of all ages.

A Very Sweet Dog Is Available For Adoption
By Judith Kristen, AAP Columnist
His name is Bruno.
This precious boy was surrendered to Pennsauken Animal Hospital and placed into the loving care of “Dr. Rippie’s Helping Paws,” located within the same building.
Bruno, approximately two and a half years old, and all of 42 pounds, arrived in critical condition, and was in immediate need of surgery to remove a foreign body from his intestines. Surgery took several hours, but thanks to an excellent medical team, along with the personal “will” of this darling boy, Bruno came through surgery with flying colors.
Naturally, his recovery took some time, but every day he showed progress, and he stabilized nicely. And, along with it, Bruno demonstrated a happy, loving, and kind disposition.
Almost four months have passed since Bruno’s surgery, and he has shown no red flags whatsoever. He gets along extremely well with all humans: young and old and everywhere in-between.
The surgery and recovery briefly took this young dog away from his “A” game, but he’s more than ready, willing, and able to become a wonderfully lovable and devoted companion to a new family who will give him the happily ever after that he so truly deserves.
If you are interested in adopting Bruno, please contact Dr. Rippie’s Helping Paws at (856) 663-4450 or apply at Pennsaukenvet.com/helping-paws.
“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.” – Anonymous
