Historic Houses of Pennsauken Open for “First Sundays”

The great traditions of Pennsauken’s homes for history continue on Sunday, Aug. 6!

From noon to 4:00 p.m., Griffith Morgan House, located on Griffith Morgan Lane off River Rd., will host the 11th Pennsylvania Regiment of the American Revolution. These brave militia men have left home and farm to assemble in defense of our liberty and they will be looking for young recruits to march alongside them as they prepare to meet the invading Redcoats, the mercenary Hessians, and the treacherous Tories! The camp followers of the stalwart militia will make good use of the hearth and pantry of Griffith Morgan House to prepare a wholesome meal for the sustenance of the soldiers. Our own volunteer docents of the historic house will also offer free tours of the house and museum so all can learn the story of these early settlers of our township.

Meanwhile, at historic Burrough-Dover House off Haddonfield Rd. on Burrough-Dover Lane, the historic home of the Quaker Burrough family will welcome visitors to tour the house, the museum, and the beautiful grounds for a perfect August afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
