Deborah Samuels Lions Club Citizen Of The Year
The Pennsauken Lions Club is pleased to announce that Deborah Samuels has been selected as its Citizen of the Year.
Deborah has been involved in Pennsauken community service for over 40 years. She began her career before she graduated from high school. In 1976, she joined the Homestead Youth Association, a civic organization which brings activities to residents who live in the niche community of Pennsauken, Merchantville, and Cherry Hill West, formerly known as the Homestead and Delly sections of town. Deborah continues her support of the organization. For more than 15 years, she has served as the chairperson of the HYA board of directors; and this year marks her 40th year of service.
Woman’s Club Sponsors Five-Day Bus Trip
The Woman’s Club of Merchantville is sponsoring a bus trip to West Virginia, Virginia, and Ohio from Friday, Sept. 23 to Tuesday, Sept. 27.
American Legion Hosts Event To Help Veterans On June 17
On Friday, June 17, American Legion F.W. Grigg Post 68 is sponsoring a special event in support of veterans in need of assistance. To help veterans receive important services they have earned by way of their service to our nation, Post 68 has arranged for the Philadelphia office of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to come to Merchantville for an all day outreach event.
Extras Needed For PYACT Show
Extras are needed for the Pennsauken Youth Action Committee’s performance of “Elf The Musical Jr.” Adapted for children ages 7 to 14, the show is based on the popular motion picture featuring Will Ferrell, James Caan, and Zooey Deschanel.
Rehearsals and performances will be at the Pennsauken Intermediate School in the air-conditioned auditorium/music room. Rehearsals will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 2:15 – 5:00 p.m., starting June 21 and running through July 21. Performances will be Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 at 7:00 p.m., as well as Sunday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m.

During National Police Week, an annual event dedicated to not only honoring America’s law enforcement community, but also remembering those officers that lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others, the Pennsauken Police Department held a special awards ceremony to recognize the courageous men and women who go above and beyond to protect and serve the Pennsauken community.
Mutt Strutt Moved To June 12 Due To Inclement Weather
Due to inclement weather, the Merchantville Mutt Strutt has be moved to the rain date of Sunday, June 12.
The Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce (P.M.A.C.) hosts the second annual Merchantville Mutt Strutt on Sunday, June 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. along Centre St. and Chestnut Ave. in Merchantville.
Revolutionary War Colonial Militia To Muster At Historic Griffith Morgan House
The first Sunday in June at historic Griffith Morgan House will bring to life a muster of the colonial militia when the 11th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Militia performs drills and prepares to take on the “lobster-backs” of the British army in the fight for independence! On Sunday, June 5, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., the re-enactors of the 11th Pennsylvania will perform drills and recruit new soldiers, while the women of the regiment prepare a meal for their brave soldiers at the hearth of Griffith Morgan House and perform the other domestic tasks so important to support the men in the field. This day of living history on the level of the common soldier of the Revolution will also feature free tours of the historic colonial home of the Morgan family and access to the museum of local history.
Pennsauken Historical Society Holds Spring Festival May 21
On Saturday, May 21 the Pennsauken Historical Society will host its annual Spring Festival from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the historic Burrough-Dover House, located at 9201 Burrough Dover Ln. in Pennsauken.
The event features free tours of the Burrough-Dover House and the Joseph E. Fitzpatrick Nostalgia Museum; corn husk doll making; tin punch demonstrations; and live music by the band “Warm Hearted Country.” In addition to a bake sale, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
