Angel Tree Program Helps More Families Than Ever

Thanks to the generosity of the local community, Pennsauken’s Angel Tree program was the most successful it’s ever been. Last month, over 40 families in need were helped during the holidays.

Delaware Gardens Neighborhood Initiative Enters Second Year

Last year, UrbanPromise, Pennsauken Township officials, and several other partnering organizations announced the receipt of a five-year, $710,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Regional Foundation for the Delaware Gardens Neighborhood Initiative, a program designed to revitalize the Delaware Gardens neighborhood, whose boundaries are 36th St. to Browning Rd. and River Rd. to Route 130. With the first year of the revitalization efforts complete, the partners look to build upon its early success and continue to engage residents in community improvements.

Christmas Festival Held On December 5

ChristmasFestivalThe Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a Christmas Festival on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St Cecilia’s school auditorium, located on 49th St. between Westfield and Camden avenues. Vendors will have crafts, Christmas items, jewelry, and many other fine gifts for your shopping selection. Food and drinks will also be available, and maybe a surprise visit by Santa! Pennsauken Lions Club Gives Back To Community

LCI emblem_2C_287+7406At a recent meeting, the Pennsauken Lions Club voted to give $500 towards the playground that the Merchantville PTA is attempting to fund and build for the students and residents around the Merchantville School. During the same meeting, the Club voted to make a donation to the South Jersey Eye Center (SJEC) in Camden. The SJEC provides free eye screenings to low income families and is the facility the Lions send children identified with eye problems during the organization’s annual eye screenings. These children not only get a complete exam, but they also receive a pair of eye glasses.

Woman’s Club Holds Meetings, Fundraisers In October

The Evening Membership of the Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Ave., at 7:00 p.m. There will be an origami workshop and light refreshments. The Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Merchantville Community Center at 12:00 p.m. There will be a tea luncheon, followed by a meeting; in addition, guest speaker John Klein will talk about the services provided by Joseph’s House.

PSE&G Working To Wrap Up Southern Reinforcement Project

These are very similar to the questions that Pennsauken residents were asking almost a year ago about the ongoing PSE&G Southern Reinforcement Project.
