Woman’s Club Holds Monthly Meeting On April 20
The Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 20 at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Ave., Merchantville, at 12:00 p.m. There will be a tea luncheon followed by a meeting; in addition, Dorothy Stanaitis, a certified Philadelphia tour guide, will give an entertaining presentation on “Betsy Ross: Next Door Neighbor.”
Merchantville Woman’s Club Celebrates 120th Anniversary
In celebration of the organization’s 120th anniversary, the Woman’s Club of Merchantville will be hosting a special guest day on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 12:00 p.m. at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Ave., Merchantville, NJ.

The Evening Membership of the Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Merchantville Community Center, 212 Somerset Ave., at 7:00 p.m. There will be an origami workshop and light refreshments. The Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Merchantville Community Center at 12:00 p.m. There will be a tea luncheon, followed by a meeting; in addition, guest speaker John Klein will talk about the services provided by Joseph’s House.
Local Students Attend Girls’ Career Institute
Girls’ Career Institute (GCI) is a program offered by the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) for girls who will complete their junior year of high school. The Woman’s Club of Merchantville and the Evening Membership Department sponsored three delegates from Pennsauken to attend this year’s GCI. Delegates are selected on the basis of interest, community service and participation in school activities.
Woman’s Club Hosts Community Book Exchange On May 30
The Merchantville Woman’s Club Evening Membership Department will host a Community Book Exchange on Saturday, May 30 at the Pennsauken Public Library from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Woman’s Club Of Merchantville Sponsors Spelling Bee
The Woman’s Club of Merchantville sponsored the 26th annual spelling bee for fourth and fifth graders from the Merchantville, Maple Shade, and Pennsauken school systems. Forty contestants, selected by their schools, competed for a spot in the regional bee. The three winners from this regional bee went on to participate in the state-wide bee, which was held at the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Club’s headquarters in New Brunswick.
Woman’s Club Hosting Trip To Get Some “Respect”
The Women’s Club of Merchantville is hosting a trip to see the play “Respect: A Musical Journey of Women” at the Penn’s Landing Playhouse on Wednesday, May 13. An international hit musical, “Respect: A Musical Journey of Women” is a funny, exuberant look at the lives of women as told through Top 40 songs, starting with Fanny Brice and “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Come Home” and continuing to the present. It highlights women’s dreams, lost loves, and relationship issues. Lunch will be at Fratelli’s Italian Bistro on Chestnut St. in Philadelphia. The Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their annual fundraiser at the Coastline, 1240 Brace Rd., Cherry Hill, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank of South Jersey, headquartered right here in Pennsauken.
Woman’s Club Of Merchantville Holds October Events
The Evening Membership of the Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Merchantville Community Center at 7 p.m. There will be a speaker from Urban Promise and light refreshments. In addition, the Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Merchantville Community Center at 12 p.m. There will be a tea luncheon followed by a meeting, where Dorothy Stanaitis will speak on “Scandals, Rumors & Dirty Lies” from the Colonial period.
Food Bank Fundraiser
The Woman’s Club of Merchantville will hold their annual fundraiser at the Coastline, 1240 Brace Road, Cherry Hill, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank of South Jersey. The event will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the donation is $5. Drinks will cost $2 for well drinks and there will be a free buffet. No reservations are required.
The Merchantville Woman’s Clubs have been one of the leading service organizations in the region. Women from our community are members committed to making a difference. Among other things, the Club raises money for local and state charities and scholarships. Activities include monthly card and game parties and members volunteer at the SJ Food Bank and Cathedral Kitchen.
