Annual Labor Day Wreath Laying Ceremony Held September 2
Labor leaders, public officials and members of the local community will gather in Pennsauken on Friday, Sept. 2, to celebrate workers across our country at the annual AFL-CIO wreath laying ceremony. This annual event has been held for over 120 years at the Peter J. McGuire Memorial, located at Arlington Cemetery, 1620 Cove Rd., Pennsauken, where the labor leader and “Father of Labor Day” is interred. The ceremony begins approximately at 11:15 a.m.

National Night Out In Pennsauken Held On August 2
Pennsauken’s first responders are holding a special event during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 2, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
Held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, 3730 Westfield Ave., Pennsauken’s police officers, firefighters, and EMTs are joining forces to present a variety of displays and activities, specialized unit demonstrations, and more.
“National Night Out is all about building and reinforcing the relationship between public safety and the residents we serve,” explained Pennsauken Police Chief Phil Olivo. “This year, we expect to provide another great experience for the members of our community.”
According to the National Night Out website, NATW.org, “Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.”

Phifer Eighth Graders Promoted To High School Class Of 2026

On June 16, family and friends gathered to celebrate the new Class of 2026 at the Eighth Grade Promotion Exercises, held at The Liacouras Center at Temple University. Over 370 students processed in among cheers and applause, as they ended one part of their academic careers and prepared to make the next step to high school.

On Sunday, July 3, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., the historic Griffith Morgan Homestead will reopen after important repair and restoration work, which was funded by a grant provided by the Camden County Open Space Historic Preservation Program. This event will include free tours of the olde house and museum, along with special historic displays and activities. For Independence Day weekend, Griffith Morgan Homestead will focus on the flag with a display of historic flags and their stories.
