Road Work To Cause Road Closure In Camden/Pennsauken

New Jersey American Water will be milling and paving South 36th Street in Camden and Pennsauken beginning Monday, June 27 through Thursday June 30. There will be a full road closure of South 36th Street between Federal Street and Westfield Avenue.

County Making Roadway Improvements On Union Avenue

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, June 22, Camden County will begin a series of roadway improvements along Union Ave.

Running along Union from Park to Maple avenues, the scope of the project includes asphalt roadway milling and paving; installation of new stormwater inlets and piping to improve drainage; improvements to handicap ramps; traffic striping, signs, and raised pavement markers; and installation of concrete curbing, as well as the replacement of in-kind driveway aprons, as needed.

This roadwork will utilize lane shifts, so no closures are anticipated.

The estimated duration of the roadwork improvements is 150 calendar days from June 22, weather permitting.

Fun, food, and fireworks will be once again enjoyed by residents at Pennsauken Township’s Summer Kick Off celebration. This year’s event is held on Saturday, June 11, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, located at Westfield and Bethel avenues.

Public Safety Update From Pennsauken Police

Today, the Pennsauken Township Police Department conducted a mock crash presentation at the Camden County Technical School, Pennsauken Campus. This presentation is done to educate students on the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. It has come to our attention that someone has posted pictures of this presentation on social media and misrepresented that there was an incident at CCTS. Any indication that this was a real incident at CCTS involving the Pennsauken Township Police Department are false.

AMVETS Yard Sale On June 11

AMVETS Post 101, located at 519 June Rd. in the Delair section of Pennsauken, is hosting a community yard sale on Saturday, June 11, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Tables are $20 a person, $15 for veterans. Interested parties can call (856) 663-8950, Monday through Friday, noon to 4:00 p.m., to reserve a table.

Mayors Rafeh, Brennan To Speak At PMAC Event

Pennsauken Mayor Jessica Rafeh and Merchantville Mayor Ted Brennan will be the guest speakers at the upcoming networking luncheon of the Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce, held on Wednesday, June 8, noon, at the Pennsauken Country Club, 3800 Haddonfield Rd.

Each year, the mayors of Pennsauken and Merchantville address local businesses and share updates on the economic development initiatives in their communities.

Pride At Peak Held This Saturday

Pride at Peak will take place outside Peak Secondhand on 105 Centre St., Saturday, June 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The inaugural event will be a fashion celebration ON THE STREET to kick off Pride Month. Clothes! Music! Attitude! And pride in YOU and your identity!

The event will feature appearances from Philly Drag Mafia’s campy, comedy queen Dominique Lee and the sassy, brassy Miss Redd! Expect a variety of vendors, performances from local musician Garnet Daze, a Freddie Mercury impersonator, and face painting for the kids. The event will culminate with a fashion show hosted by one of Philly’s finest comedians Dan Vetrano, and will star local fashionistas, young, old, and possibly even a town mayor on the runway!

Pennsauken Public Schools is hosting a food distribution at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd., on Saturday, June 4, at 9:00 a.m. This will be the last food distribution before the summer.
