Detectives Investigating The Shooting Of A 16-Year-Old Male

Detectives are investigating a shooting of a 16-year-old male in the 3700 block of Herbert Avenue in Pennsauken, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Acting Pennsauken Police Chief Phillip Olivo.

Commissioners Revitalize And Reimagine Memorial At Cooper River

The Camden County Board of County Commissioners is moving forward with planned improvements to the county’s memorial to local victims of terrorism located in Cooper River Park. The Board awarded a contract for the improvements to Think Pavers Hardscaping, LLC, at its June board meeting to revitalize and reimagine the memorial.

The structure was initially unveiled in 2002 in the wake of the September 11 attacks, and has remained at its current location for nearly 20 years. In addition to the planned improvements, the memorial will be relocated in the park to a more prominent location near Jack Curtis Stadium.

Police Seek Help In Suspicious Incident

National Night Out In Pennsauken Held On August 3

Pennsauken’s first responders are holding a special event during National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 3, an annual community-building campaign that is designed to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.

Held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, Pennsauken’s police, fire department, and EMS are joining forces to present a variety of displays and activities, specialized unit demonstrations, and more.

Heat Advisory Issued In Camden County

The Office of the Camden County Health Officer has issued a Heat Advisory for Camden County effective Tuesday, July 6, through Wednesday, July 7, from noon to 7 p.m. each day. During a Heat Advisory, the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Pennsauken Township Announces Updated Trash/Recycling Collection Schedule

Earlier today, Pennsauken Township announced that there will be changes to the town’s trash and recycling collection because of Independence Day.

Per the Township website and social media posts, “Pennsauken Township has been informed that the Covanta Waste to Energy Facility will be closed on Monday, July 5. As there will be no place to send our collected trash and recycling, our vendor will not be picking up on Monday.”

This changes residential collection to the following schedule:

  • Monday’s trash and recycling collection moves to Tuesday, July 6
  • Tuesday’s trash and recycling collection moves to Wednesday, July 7
  • Wednesday’s yard waste and white goods collection moves to Thursday, July 8
  • Thursday’s trash and recycling collection moves to Friday, July 9
  • Friday’s trash and recycling collection moves to Saturday, July 10

Pennsauken Announces Personnel Changes To Key Township Roles

Pennsauken Township has announced the following changes to its municipal government, administration, and public safety program: Tim Killion has stepped down as a member of Township Committee to become the town’s administrator; Joseph V. Palumbo, Sr. has moved from interim administrator to public safety director, continuing his role as chief of the Pennsauken Township Fire Department; and Captain Phil Olivo became interim chief of the Pennsauken Township Police Department. These moves were made official at the Township Committee meeting on Thursday, June 3.

Township Fireworks Display Held On June 12

Enjoying Dim Sum At Pennsauken’s Kim Sum

One of my foodie bucket list items was always to experience some good dim sum, a Chinese dish of small steamed or fried savory dumplings containing various fillings, which serves as a snack or main course. In my mind, I imagined filling my entire table with containers of these glorious bites and bits. At Kim Sum in Pennsauken, that is exactly what I did.
