Celebrating Pride, Progress, And People In Pennsauken

By Nicole Roberts, Mayor of Pennsauken

We have a very busy June planned for Pennsauken. Throughout the month, we’re celebrating our neighbors, as well as marking some significant milestones.

First, June is Pride Month, an opportunity to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of our LGBTQ+ community. Pennsauken remains committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and welcome. Together, we continue building a community rooted in dignity, compassion, and understanding for all.

We’re also thanking our senior citizens for all that they do with a special appreciation day at the Pennsauken Municipal Pool. On June 5, you’ll be able to enjoy some great food, dance to the classics, play some BINGO, and even take a dip! Each year, this event gets more and more popular, and I can’t wait to welcome some of our favorite residents.

For the first time ever, Pennsauken will be hosting a Juneteenth Celebration on June 14. This free event will be held at the Pennsauken Municipal Complex, 5605 N. Crescent Blvd., from noon to 3:00 p.m., and features amazing performances and a variety of food vendors and merchants. We’ll also honor the significance of the day with some special guest speakers. We invite everyone to join us for this special day.

On June 15, we’ll be honoring all the father figures in our lives for Father’s Day. My father, Benjamin, was a wonderful example of love and service. The lessons I learned from him helped make me into the person I am today. And working alongside my husband, Darryl, as we raised our children, I am so proud of the father he has become through the years. It is so important to have a strong male presence in our lives, and we thank all those who have taken on that fatherly role.

And on June 18, Pennsauken High School Class of 2025 will be receiving their diplomas in front of family and friends. On behalf of the entire Township Committee, we would like to congratulate our graduating seniors on this amazing accomplishment. Your four years of hard work will serve you well as you get ready for college, join a trade, enter the workforce, or enlist in the military. We are so Pennsauken Proud of you and can’t wait to see what you do next!

As we head into the summer, Pennsauken will have so much going on, including the opening of our new library/municipal complex and breaking ground on our Welcome Home Jake’s Place playground and new community center. We can’t wait to share it with you, so be sure to follow Pennsauken’s official social media channels, All Around Pennsauken, and the Township’s website, Pennsauken.gov.
