Exciting And Informative Events Held This Month By The Friends Of The Library
By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library
Well, we sold every crumb of the cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and more so many of you donated. Thanks to everyone who made this year’s bake sale a tasty success. And considering how fast bags of books, DVDs and CDs were sold, there have to be a lot of happy readers, listeners and movie aficionados right now in Pennsauken and Merchantville. If you missed out, take heart: there’s always next fall.
November Events
Pencil in Saturday, Nov. 7, when the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Library host a Rite Aid program, “Handling Your Diabetes During the Holidays.” This one-hour free program takes place in the Pennsauken Free Public Library’s Wilgos Community Room at 2:00 p.m. There’s no need to register ahead of time. Just come out to learn some interesting and “health-ful” facts and tips.
On Saturday, Nov. 14, the Friends host a double-header fundraiser featuring the antics of Toe-Knee, Street Magic at its Finest and talented ventriloquist, Nick Pawlow and his pal, Yuk the Caveman! There will be two one-hour performances in the Library’s Community Room; the first takes place at 1:00 p.m. and the second at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. To check for ticket availability, call (856) 665-5959, ext. 7 and leave a message. Tickets will also be available the day of the event.
Finally, there’s still plenty of time to buy tickets for the Friends’ annual raffle until the final day, Wednesday, Nov. 18. The drawing takes place at 3:00 p.m. and three lucky winners will take home some pretty fabulous prizes: a Microsoft Surface 3 Tablet, Nintendo 3DS XL Game Console, and FitBit with Heart Rate Monitor. Tickets are just $2 each or three for $5. You can purchase them at the Library or from any member of the Friends. You need not be present to win, but think how excited you’ll be if you hear your name called!
As always, we invite you to attend our next Friends meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room. Please join us and bring your ideas, and check us out on Facebook as well.
