The historic Griffith Morgan House in Pennsauken, located on Griffith Morgan Ln. off River Rd. in Delair, will now be open to the public for regular hours for the first time ever!
Starting on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the historic colonial house and museum will be open to the general public for visits on a regular basis. The new plan calls for the house to be open to the general public every first Sunday of the month, March to November, from 1 to 4 p.m. This policy will allow reliable access for families and local history buffs to visit the old house, take a tour, visit the museum, enjoy current displays of local history, and consult the books, media, maps and other materials of the Griffith Morgan House library and archives.
The Griffith Morgan House was the home of the Morgan family, one of the earliest families to settle this area when New Jersey was an English colony. The Morgan family occupied the site from 1693 until well into the 19th century, witnessing the colonial period, the American Revolution, and the early Republic. The Griffith Morgan House has been identified as possibly the oldest house surviving in Camden County.

Staffed entirely by volunteers since 1971, when the old house was preserved and restored to become a public historic site, the Griffith Morgan House has previously been open only for special events or by appointment. The Griffith Morgan House and its collections are supported by memberships in the Griffith Morgan Committee, which is the governing organization from which the volunteers who staff the house are drawn.

Recent and upcoming events at Griffith Morgan House include Living History Day in September, a Halloween event, and the annual Harvest Celebration in November. These special events at Griffith Morgan House often feature hearth cooking, live music and demonstrations of colonial crafts.

So, on any first Sunday from March through November, plan to drop by historic Griffith Morgan House for a little history and fun!

There is plenty of free parking and admission is also free. Donations to support the work of the Griffith Morgan Committee are gratefully accepted.
