Music, food, and fireworks will once again be enjoyed by residents at Pennsauken Township’s Summer Kick Off celebration. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 10, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex, located at Westfield and Bethel avenues.
“The start of summer is a great time of year, and Pennsauken is ready to celebrate with our families and friends with an amazing community event,” said Pennsauken Mayor Vince Martinez. “We invite all of our residents to join us on June 10 for all of the fun and fireworks.”
“We have a lot of things planned for during the Summer Kick Off,” added Juan Vazquez, Parks and Recreation coordinator for the Township. “From great performers to delicious offerings from food vendors, there’s are a lot to experience and enjoy. Plus the fireworks finale is a can’t miss event.”
Before the sun goes down, guests at the Summer Kick Off will enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including face painting, balloon twisting, and juggling. Children of all ages can have their picture taken with some “frosty” costumed characters, as well as be amazed by talented Pennsauken-based performer, Toe-Knee the Magician. A variety of food trucks and vendors will be on site, such as Latin Bites, Red’s Rolling Restaurant, Matty G Dogz, and Dawson’s Soul Food. And attendees can try their hand at cooling off Township officials and first responders at the dunk tank.
The Summer Kick Off will feature a performance by The Philly Special Band, a powerful and professional 10-piece Philadelphia band of musicians and vocalists that covers a wide variety of popular music, “from Justin Timberlake to Fall Out Boy and Bruce Springsteen to Ella Fitzgerald.”
Residents are also encouraged to grab a blanket or folding chair to enjoy the evening’s impressive fireworks finale, which will cap off the evening around 9:00 p.m.
Residents will be able to park in and around the area of the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex for the Summer Kick Off. Officers from the Pennsauken Township Police Department will help to direct traffic, and the Pennsauken Fire Department and its EMS division will also be on site. The rain date for the event is Sunday, June 11, at the same time and location. For more information, visit PennsaukenEvents.com.
