Local Artists Invited To Display Work At Two Events This Spring
Local area artists are encouraged to display their original works in various media at two separate events this spring, sponsored by the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library.
Open to Pennsauken and Merchantville residents only, the annual Art Show and Sale will open to the public from April 19-26 during regular Library hours. Participants from eighth grade through adult are encouraged to showcase their talents. Notices have been sent to all public and private high schools where Pennsauken and Merchantville students attend. Details for participation are noted in the flyer which can be picked up at the Pennsauken Library’s circulation desk or the Friends’ lobby display.
In addition, all local area artists have an opportunity to display your original art pieces on May 31 as part of the Friend’s fundraising event held at the Strain Estate, 2426 Cove Rd., Pennsauken. The second annual Silent Art Auction and Wine Tasting is being co-hosted by Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, the current owners of the property. The event will be held rain or shine from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. For this event, the artwork must be framed and ready to hang (or placed on an easel). All interested artists are asked to send an e-mail with a photo of your work to Eleanor Gribok, art auction chair, at egribok@comcast.net. Please include your telephone number in your message. Artists who participate at this function are requested to be present during the event; however, it is not mandatory.
All participating artists must agree to donate 20 percent of the sale price of any piece they sell at either of these events to the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library. These funds will be used to support the extremely popular Museum Pass Program, which provides free admission to local area museums and gardens for all Pennsauken Free Public Library card holders.
