Mary Keating DiSabato, Longtime Staple Of Pennsauken Community

Longtime Pennsauken resident Mary Keating DiSabato passed away on Oct. 21.

Mary was the beloved wife of Anthony “Sonny” DiSabato, senior coordinator for Pennsauken Township and longtime All Around Pennsauken columnist. She was the mother of Denise Neri, Remo (Patricia) Croce, Elyssa (Michael) Palmisano, Stephen (Tamara Stafford) Croce, Mary K. (Warren) Mazzochette, Anthony (Theresa) DiSabato and Rita (Ben) Tahenakos; cherished nana of Jason, Justin (Nicole), Joshua (Leslie), Michael (Jackie), Anthony, Mary (Tom), Remo (fiancé Lindsay), Sarah, Danielle, Warren (Rachel), Zachary, Wyatt, Sam, Leo, Nicholas, Joseph, Kaiya and Jadyn; great-grandmother of Evangeline, Madden, Thomas, Atticus, Rosemary, Oliver and Juliet; and dear sister of the late Barbara (the late Anthony) Petracci, Dolores (the late John) Spicer, and Michael (Theresa) Keating. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, aunt, sister and faithful friend to many. Her sense of style and fashion sense sere legendary. DiSabato was a fixture on the political scene in South Jersey for 60 years with the Democratic Party. She also served in the NJ State Assembly for three terms from 1974-1980, sponsoring and co-sponsoring many pieces of legislation championing women’s rights and the rights of the disadvantaged. Mary continued her service to the State and community by serving as the Chair of the NJ State Parole Board from 1991-1998. After retirement, Mary continued to enjoy life, travelling the world with her beloved husband, Sonny, summers at the Jersey Shore, and celebrating life with her large family. Mary set an example of joy humility, courage and faith right to the end. A more loving and caring person never lived. She will be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.; and on Monday, Oct. 24 from 8:30–9:15 a.m. at Platt Memorial Chapels, Inc., 2001 Berlin Road , Cherry Hill, N.J., 08003.

Services: The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, October 24, 2016 beginning 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 43 W. Maple Ave., Merchantville, N.J., 08109.
