Municipal Agencies, Local Organizations Speak With Students During PHS Job Fair
Juniors and seniors from Pennsauken High School met with representatives from several Township departments and agencies, as well as other area businesses and organizations, during a special job fair. This important collaboration was designed to help students learn about potential public and private career opportunities right here in their hometown.
“The Township was very excited to be a part of this job fair and talk with some of the juniors and seniors at Pennsauken High School. We were impressed with the students and the questions they asked,” said Township Committeeman Marco DiBattista. “Part of what makes our town special is that it’s multi-generational. We would love to see these bright, hardworking young people continue to live in this community, work in our town, and raise a family right here. These job fairs can serve as a pipeline for that.”
PHS students sat with potential employers for 20 minutes at a time to network with them. Participants from Pennsauken Township and local businesses shared what they do on a day-to-day basis, as well as the qualities they are looking for in their employees. Students had an opportunity to ask questions and provided their resumes to employers for potential follow-up.
Students spoke with a variety of Township departments and agencies, including administration, the clerk’s office, finance, property maintenance, the Pennsauken Municipal Court, public works, the Pennsauken Sewerage Authority, Pennsauken Police Department, Pennsauken Fire Department, and human resources. Other participating Other participating organizations were the New Jersey Department of Corrections, New Jersey City University, TD Bank Cinnaminson, SEPTA, Becker School Supply, New Jersey American Water, Scrub Daddy, South Jersey Party Rentals, and International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 21.
“This job fair was a perfect synergy of Pennsauken Public Schools, the Township, and our community coming together to help our students, who made a very good first impression with their preparation and focus,” said Caroline Steer, acting superintendent for Pennsauken Public Schools. “We thank all of our community partners who participated, as well as Dr. Bridget Zino, Mr. Jeffrey Ford, Ms. Samantha Procida, and our CTE staff for all of their hard work in putting this job fair together. We have some very talented students at Pennsauken High School, and we know that they are going to do some pretty amazing things after graduating.”
