Pennsauken resident Rhonda Cunningham is about to open a fashion boutique that is the culmination of a lifelong dream, and a desire to instill hope, faith, and positivity in her customers.
Camellia’s Closet may be opening this month, but the start of the concept began when Rhonda was 16 years old. Studying Fashion Design and Merchandising at Burlington County Institute of Technology, she has a true love of clothing and how the right outfit can make people feel. Camellia is actually Rhonda’s middle name, which means divine and positive. She wants to share those feelings with her customers, inviting them to “browse her closet of clothes” to find the perfect outfit through an uplifting shopping experience.
“I want people to feel good about what they’re wearing,” says Cunningham. “Whether you’re 16 or 80, tell me about your style and we’ll work to make it happen.”
Camellia’s Closet showcases ready to wear clothes from casual to elegant; the store features a wide variety of styles – casual, classic, and trendy – in plus sizes. Also on sale is handmade pure soap, lotions, essential hair serum, pure oil, and shampoo and conditioner.
“I want to give people a little bit of everything in one spot,” explains Rhonda. “I can help you put an outfit together that isn’t expensive, but you’ll look and feel like a million bucks.”
The 1,000-square foot retail space also has fitting rooms and a lounge where customers can have a cup of tea and relax.
“I want to coming to Camellia’s Closet to be a shopping experience,” says Cunningham. “We have a great space to hold events, like wine and cheese tastings and painting classes. It’s also perfect for showers and small parties.
“Come into my closet, just be you, and let Camellia bring out the beauty that’s true.”
Camellia’s Closet is located at 19 W. Park Ave., left store front, in Merchantville. For more information, visit CamelliasCloset.com or call (856) 333-6167.
