New Merchantville Restaurant Offers Kabobs And More

The newest eatery to grace our beloved Pennsauken/Merchantville area is The Kabob House, located at 7 East Park Ave. in Merchantville, right around the bend from McFarlan’s Market.

FoodAs an official card carrying “Foodie,” I thought my longings for the perfect kabob or falafel could only be satisfied in two locations: one in New York City in the theater district on 9th Ave., and the other directly across from the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool. That changed with my visit to The Kabob House; it has exactly what it takes.

Brothers Atiq and Ilyas opened the restaurant on Nov. 7 of last year. They’re a team that runs like the best of clockwork. Ilyas, takes the orders and runs the front area to welcome customers. He is pleasant and courteous, and you immediately feel like The Kabob House has been your local hang out for years. Atiq, is the chef; it is his talent that creates those mouth-watering dishes: roasted lamb, falafel over seasoned rice, homemade hummus, and delicious servings of chicken, lamb, and koobida kabobs – all flame broiled on skewers and served with rice, chopped salad, and bread. There are also tasty traditional American items on the list: Buffalo wings, burgers, fries, chicken fingers, and cheesesteaks. Free sodas with every order of any entrée or sandwich are a nice bonus as well.

The last order of the day is taken 30 minutes before closing, as everything is prepared fresh. And they deliver!

The Kabob House is open Tuesday and Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday. For more information or to order, call (856) 333-6502. You can also order online at KabobHouseNJ.com or visit them on Facebook at Facebook.com/kabobhousenj.
