Obituary: Chanin Coyle

Chanin Coyle age 54, of Pennsauken, passed away on October 11, 2025, surrounded by loving family. Born in Abington, Pa. and raised in Churchville, Pa., she was the daughter of Richard and Sandra (Haskins) McDowell; beloved wife for 30 years to Joseph Michael Coyle of Pennsauken; and mother to Joseph Michael, Jr. and Kathleen Bernadette — and their beloved pup, Lola.

Chanin graduated from West Chester University in 1994, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations with a focus in Journalism. She met her husband on en route to World Youth Day in Colorado, highlighted by a public Mass with Pope John Paul II. Joe and Chanin were married in October 1995.

Known throughout her life for her fierce work ethic and boundless energy, Chanin was a valued employee. She worked for over 20 years with pharmaceutical media buying company Compas, Inc., climbing from Media Coordinator to Corporate Training Manager. In recent years, Chanin worked at Rutgers University’s Career Center in Camden, NJ as Employer Relations Coordinator and earned Employee of the Year within her department in her first year there. She considered herself blessed to work with such a wonderful team.

For many years, Chanin was the backbone of her husband’s businesses, managing operations for his company, JMC Quality Home Inspections and acted as director with a business built by them both: The Home Inspection School of New Jersey.

Autumn was her favorite season of the year, enjoying pumpkin picking and hayrides at Johnson’s Farm and of course, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles: “Go birds!!”. Chanin was also known to cook two Thanksgiving dinners: One for her parents in Pennsylvania, and the other for her family in New Jersey. At Christmastime, a multitude of decorated trees adorned the house, and no holiday was complete without the twinkling lights and festive sounds of a carriage ride.

Chanin enjoyed a lifetime of summers in Ocean City, NJ: reading on the beach, walking the boards, splashing through the waterpark, devouring Manco’s and Manco’s Pizza and having a blast on the amusement rides after dark with her husband and children.

A devoted Catholic, Chanin’s faith was the basis of everything. She remained steadfast throughout her life, attending Mass, feast days and festivities, and volunteering her time alongside family members decorating her parish church during Christmas and Easter seasons. Chanin had a devotion to the Holy Rosary and passed peacefully as her family prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet at her bedside.

Chanin’s memory will be cherished by her parents Richard and Sandy McDowell, her husband Joe and children, Joseph and Kathleen. She is pre-deceased by her older brother Scott (d. 2020) and father-in-law, John Coyle (d. 2024). Chanin will be terribly missed by her many cousins, sister-in-law Janice McDowell, life-long brother and friend Greg (Therese) Nowakowski. Beloved members of her husband’s family: Mary Coyle, Linda Robinson (Peter), Patty Hoffman (Paul), Loretta Huslin (Tom) and Jay Coyle (Pam). She was the favorite aunt of Ricky and Samantha, Christian, Jessica, Kristen, Olivia and Cora.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m., at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 43 W. Maple Ave in Merchantville, NJ 08109. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.

In lieu of flowers, Chanin has requested donations be made to St. Peter Roman Catholic Church at the above address.
