Obituary: Thomas R. Rapa

Thomas R. Rapa passed away on Sept. 28 at the age of 77. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Margaret Rapa (nee Campbell); loving father of Lauren Rapa Guzzo (Louis) of Marlton, N.J.; Patrick Rapa of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Michael Rapa (Christina) of Philadelphia, Pa. Thomas was also the dear brother of Maryann Rapa of West Deptford and the late Joseph Rapa (Robert Jones); son of the late Joseph and Margaret Rapa; and proud pop-pop of Ava Guzzo, Julia Guzzo, and Luca Rapa.

Thomas was a teacher in the Pennsauken School District for over 30 years at both Central School and Phifer Middle School. He was also a graduate of Camden Catholic High School 1964, Glassboro State College (Rowan University), and Trenton State College (TCNJ).

Rapa was an umpire and coached soccer and little league in Collingswood. He was also a recreational golfer and a fan of all Philly sports teams. Thomas loved being in Ocean City each summer with his family. He had many interests and causes, but his number one priority was always his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation, Friday evening, Oct. 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave., Haddon Township, N.J. and on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. John’s Church, 809 Park Ave., Collingswood, N.J., where his funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, N.J.
