A DM on Instagram a little over a year ago turned into “I do” on Valentine’s Day when Pennsauken Mayor Marco DiBattista married longtime Township natives Julian Perez and Leticia Rosa in a special ceremony at the Municipal Building.
The newlyweds hung in similar circles with mutual friends, but never met. Julian first reached out via Instagram, where the two 26 year olds hit it off.

Roosevelt Students State Finalists For Samsung Solve For Tomorrow

Five Roosevelt STEM seventh graders, Damra Rivera, Altagracia Pena-Perez, Syla Almero, Claire Ingram, and William Snyder, have been named one of the 300 state finalists in the 14th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition, receiving a $2,500 prize package.
Pennsauken Florist Helps Design Float For 2024 Rose Parade

Pennsauken native and professional florist Rick Cuneo recently completed the biggest project he’s ever undertaken: the floral design for Cal Poly and California State Polytechnic University in Pomona’s 75th float entry in the 2024 Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
“It was really an unbelievable opportunity to work on this,” said Cuneo, a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers, the oldest and largest non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing and promoting the art of floral design as a professional career. “It’s amazing to see how it all comes together in just a matter of days.”
Roadwork To Close Road In Pennsauken

PSE&G will be working on Lexington Avenue in Pennsauken on Monday, Feb. 5, and Tuesday, Feb. 6, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. There will be a partial road closure westbound on Lexington Ave. between Burwood and Beacon avenues.
“Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris.”
The Camden County Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining over 1,200 miles of county roadway and 50 bridges. They are dedicated to making our area safer for motorists and pedestrians through county highway construction projects and road maintenance, including pothole repairs, street sweeping, grass cutting and storm drainage upkeep. The Public Works Department is located in Lindenwold where personnel are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to serve the residents of Camden County.

Well, we’ll be holding another of our famous bake sales in the Pennsauken Free Public Library lobby prior to Valentine’s Day, so you can stock up on sweets for your sweet. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cakes, and pies filled our tables at the last sale and made a lot of visitors to the library very happy. And don’t forget that if you’re a member of the Friends of the Library, you’ll get a freebie when you show your membership card. The sale starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m., or earlier if we run out of baked goods.

Wingstop Opens In Pennsauken

Along Rt. 130 in Pennsauken is the location of the newest Wingstop restaurant. First announced in 2020, the popular wing chain opened its doors Jan. 6, at 6602 South Crescent Blvd., adjacent to AFC Urgent Care.
Founded in 1994 in Garland, TX, Wingstop has grown to over 2,000 restaurants across the globe. The Pennsauken location is the latest addition of the franchise to South Jersey, with approximately 10 stores throughout the state.
Camden County To Hold Public Meeting For Green Acres Grant Application
PUBLIC NOTICE
PURPOSE: The County of Camden is seeking funding through the State of NJ Urban Parks Program and the Green Acres Program Application for improvements at Cooper River Playground located at 5300 N Park Dr, Pennsauken Township, NJ 08109 (Block 6304, Lot 1).

PEA Collecting Donations For MLK Day Of Service
The Pennsauken Education Association is hosting its sixth annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service event for the Pennsauken community.
Community members, teachers, and school staff can drop off the materials for the care packages for Angels in Motion, an organization that assists individuals who are combating addiction by treating each person as individuals, offering genuine compassion, and understanding, and providing “blessing bags,” which contain food, snacks, clothing, hygiene products and resource information to obtain help when they are ready.
Drop off will be on Monday, Jan. 15, at Pennsauken High School, 800 Hylton Rd., from 10:00 a.m. to noon. During that time, student volunteers will be putting together bags using the donations received. A token of appreciation will be given to families who complete a bag on behalf of PEA Pride upon drop-off. To register your donations, please complete the PEA’s Sign Up Genius Form.
