On Monday, Jan. 17, PEA Pride is hosting its fourth annual MLK Day of Service event for the Pennsauken community.
The National MLK Day of Service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”
To keep socially distant and safe during this pandemic, PEA Pride is asking members and Pennsauken families to sign up to make a “Blessing Bag” for Angels in Motion, the non-profit helping those battling addiction in the Philadelphia area. The goal is to donate 200 “Blessing Bags,” which contain food, snacks, clothing, hygiene products and resource information to obtain help. Participants in this donation drive will receive a token of appreciation from PEA Pride upon drop off of bag(s). Please consider helping and signing up through Sign-Up Genius.
Car-side drop off will be on Monday, Jan. 17, at the Pennsauken High School parking lot (300 wing) from 10:00 a.m. to noon. For more information, email sfuir@pennsauken.net or smammi@pennsauken.net.
The PEA Pride MLK Day of Service event is one of many events that our Pennsauken Education Association promotes to encourage kindness, positivity, and gratitude in our school community. The Pennsauken Education Association is an affiliate of the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) and represents the teachers, nurses, librarians, guidance counselors, child study team members, and student assistance coordinators of the Pennsauken School District. The Pennsauken Pride chapter is an ongoing campaign created to share the education successes of the Pennsauken School District with all Pennsauken residents while building strong community support and involvement in our great public schools.
