PennPet Veterinary Clinic is a new low-cost surgical outpatient clinic opening in Pennsauken this month, ready to serve the community’s four-legged friends. The clinic is run by Dr. Rebecca Trejo, VMD, who knew at very age that she wanted to take care of animals.
“My grandfather had a farm in Mexico and liked being around the animals,” says Trejo. “I always knew that I wanted to be a veterinarian.”
After graduating from University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Trejo worked in shelter medicine throughout South Jersey. Recognizing a growing need for low-cost clinics, she, along with veterinary technician and Pennsauken native Stephanie Kimble, have been working to get things ready for clinic opening later this month.
Initially, PennPet will be open twice a week, with a vaccination clinic most likely on Saturdays. The clinic will focus on spaying and neutering; mass removals; fixing issues such as hematomas, hernias, and cherry eyes; as well as dental cleanings and extractions. More complicated procedures will be referred to a specialist. The clinic also offers its services to feral cat TNR programs and rescue groups.
PennPet Veterinary Clinic is located at Gordon Plaza, 3495 Haddonfield Rd. in Pennsauken. Facing the strip mall, the clinic is around the right corner of the building. For more information, call (856) 979-6585 or visit PennPetClinic.com.
