The Pennsauken Environmental Commission and the Township’s Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a fall clean-up day on Saturday, Oct. 1. Held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., volunteers will be split between two locations: the Boat Ramp at Derousse Ave., and the Pennsauken Creek area by the Pennsauken Country Club.
“Each year, volunteers from our community come out and help keep some of Pennsauken’s great outdoor spaces free of litter and debris,” explained Juan Vazquez, the Township’s parks and recreation coordinator. “This is a great project for community groups and young people who need service hours. We hope you’ll join us!”
Each person, family, or team will be provided with trash bags, a bucket, gloves (one size fits all), and trash pickers. It is suggested that volunteers wear boots, along with old clothes (long-sleeved shirts and pants), as individuals can get muddy and dirty. These clean ups may be canceled/postponed due to weather 24 hours prior to the event.
If a volunteer feels ill within 24 hours of the event, comes in contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19 or is waiting for test results, and/or have personally tested positive for COVID-19 or are awaiting test results, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at the contact information below and stay home.
