Pennsauken Historical Society Participates In History Month Events

Information Provided By The Pennsauken Historical Society

October is History Month in Camden County! The Camden County History Alliance consists of over 40 different organizations. And during the month of October, these organizations, including the Pennsauken Historical Society, will be holding 70 different events!

Guests visiting the Griffith Morgan House from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, can look forward to living history demonstrations showcasing historic life in different ways. Some ole’ fashioned skills that will be demonstrated include candle making, hearth cooking, and butter churning.

Those who attend our Burrough-Dover House event from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, will experience Halloween-themed games with a historical twist! There will be pumpkin carving/painting for children, as well as tin punching, outdoor cooking, and butter churning. Young visitors in costume can also take pictures with our history docents in historical garb!

For both events, entry into the historical houses, tours, and parking are always free! In addition, refreshments will be provided for our guests’ enjoyment.

Griffith Morgan House is located at 243 Griffith Morgan Lane, off River Rd. between Delair and Rt. 73. Burrough-Dover House, the 1710/1793 home of the colonial Burrough family, is located on Burrough-Dover Lane, near Wyndam Rd., off of Haddonfield Rd.

Throughout the entire month, guests can partake in historical events throughout Camden County. Visit CCHSNJ.org/history-week for more details. Pennsauken Historical Society is supported by its community, and memberships and donations are greatly appreciated. In addition, volunteer opportunities for all interests are always open!
