Pennsauken Holds Halloween Home Decorating Contest

Halloween is coming and Pennsauken’s Department of Parks and Recreation and the Pennsauken Youth Action Committee would like to recognize the very best – and spookiest – decorations throughout Pennsauken as part of the town’s Halloween Home Decorating Contest. As you get ready to start hanging cobwebs, skeletons, and the like, there could be a reward for your efforts!

A team of guys and ghouls will be creeping around town to locate the most impressive expressions of Halloween spirit Pennsauken has to offer. In order for your decorated home to be considered for the contest, you must submit your address using the online form located at the Pennsauken Township website.

Official judging will occur between the hours of 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Oct. 22-23. Each judging team will perform “street view” evaluations of your home for creativity, spookiness, and general appeal. If you don’t have the scariest house in town, don’t worry; all types of décor will be considered, from scary to humorous. All entries are welcome. Submissions must be received by Friday, Oct. 19.

A first, second, and third place winner will be chosen, as well as up to three runners up. Prizes will be $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third. Photos of the winning homes will be printed in the November edition of All Around Pennsauken; all houses considered for this competition will be included in both an interactive online map so that residents can enjoy the local Halloween displays, as well as a video montage shown on Channel 19.

Help cause some friendly frights throughout our neighborhoods by decorating your home or visiting those who do! For more information, call Pennsauken’s Parks and Recreation Department at (856) 665-1000 x151.

And after you submit your home for the Halloween Home Decorating Contest, be sure to send your address in for Pennsauken’s Interactive Trick or Treat Map!
