Last night, an online school threat made on Instagram and shared on social media prompted an investigation by the Pennsauken Police Department.
According to a statement on the Pennsauken School District’s website and Facebook page, school officials were made aware of an online post that stated a “student from PHS was going to shoot up the school.” Pennsauken Detectives were called in to investigate and determined that not only was the post several weeks old, the “PHS” did not refer to Pennsauken, but rather Paulsboro, whose authorities were contacted.
The District statement went on to say that there would an added police presence at schools today as a precaution. It also thanked the parents and students that reached out to the school system about the online threat.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out to us about this post, and to the Pennsauken Police for continuing to ensure our schools are safe and secure for all staff and students.”
