A teacher from Pennsauken High School is encouraging the love of music and song at a brand-new studio location.
Kate Guenther has been teaching theatre and vocal music at PHS since 2005. She formed Musik Haus in 2008 and just recently moved into a larger, more open space.
“The property is amazing,” said Guenther, who teaches kids from Pennsauken and the surrounding areas. “The amount of natural light that pours into each of the studios creates a warm, encouraging environment for every student.”
Kate, along with two other teachers on staff, tailor instruction to the needs of each student.
“I’ve always tried to make it fun and encouraging. It’s about the individual. I want them to enjoy what they’re learning, experience a lot of different music and styles, and learn what makes each thing important to their growth as an artist.”
The Musik Haus staff is currently offering lessons for piano, voice, and guitar for students of all ages and levels, but can also bring in different teachers based on the instruments individuals are interested in learning. They’re also planning several outdoor performances in the coming months.
“We’re looking to get back into performing and putting together some cabarets as the weather warms up,” said Guenther. “We can’t wait to get back to sharing music and theatre with our community.”
Musik Haus Studios are located at 509 Howard St. in Riverton. For more information, visit musikhausstudios.com.
