Pennsauken Township is seeking funding through the State of New Jersey Green Acres Program for improvements to the parks system in the Jordantown / Stockton Park neighborhood of Pennsauken. The first of the two sites is located at Block 3904, Lot 8 (Stockton Park on Stockton Avenue). The second parcel includes Block 4007, Lot 1 and Block 4008, Lot 14 located (Pennsauken Athletic Fields) on Elm Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ 08109.

Pennsauken Township proposes to create an interconnected parks system in the Jordantown neighborhood of Pennsauken. The name of the project is The Jordantown Enhancement and Connectivity Initiative. The purpose of this project is to revitalize Stockton Park and enhance the surrounding community’s recreational opportunities by upgrading existing facilities and introducing new, inclusive amenities. The renovation will replace outdated playground equipment with a combination of modern and accessible play structures that cater to children of all ability levels, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. Additionally, fitness equipment will be installed to promote active lifestyles for park visitors of all ages.

A new multiuse path will be created, connecting Stockton Park to the nearby Pennsauken Athletic Fields at Elm Avenue via a safe crosswalks. This connection will foster increased accessibility and encourage community engagement between the park and athletic fields.

At Elm Avenue, significant upgrades will be made to the athletic fields, including upgrades at the baseball field to enhance playability and reduce maintenance. Covered batting cages will be added to support training and recreational use. The football field lighting will be upgraded with LED standards, extending usability and improve safety during evening activities. Additionally, code compliant bleachers will be installed at the secondary baseball field, providing spectators with a more comfortable and organized viewing experience.
