Residents Invited To Join Pennsauken’s Community Garden

Got a green thumb just itching to grow something? If so, there’s a plot with your name on it at the Pennsauken Community Garden this season! No green thumb? No experience? No problem! There’s still a plot at the Pennsauken Community Garden you can make all your own while you learn the ins and outs of gardening; and meet a lot of wonderful people ready to help you get the hang of it!

Now in its fifth year, the Pennsauken Community Garden has expanded and is offering extra individual plots to offer on a first come, first served basis. The garden is located directly behind the Pennsauken Free Public Library and the cost for the season is only $15 per plot. Of course, it’ll be up to you what you want to plant. What will it be? Veggies? Flowers? Watermelons? Pumpkins?

There are also piles of topsoil and mulch you’re free to use, along with wheelbarrows to help you carry each load back to your space. We’ll even supply hoes, rakes, shovels, trowels, and other assorted garden tools you can borrow from the shed. You’ll just need to water, weed, and enjoy your harvest once your crops come in!

“Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes.”

If you’d like to expand your gardening experience or learn what it takes to become a grower, you’re invited to meet at the site on Saturday, May 4, at 10:00 a.m. to sign up, pick a plot, and get started. If you can’t make it then, please call Eileen at (856) 224-4625 to let her know you’re interested and to reserve a space.

Growing season is just about here and there are lots and lots of seeds anxious to sprout, so take advantage of Pennsauken’s own little community treasure and make the most of all the free fresh air and sunshine we have in abundance at the Pennsauken Community Garden. You’ll be glad you did!
