River Road, Union Avenue In Pennsauken To Close For Water Main Replacement
Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, has been notified by the Merchantville Pennsauken Water Commission that crews will be replacing a water main on River Rd. and Union Ave. in Pennsauken beginning Monday, Aug. 12. During this time, stretches of both River Road and Union Avenue will be closed during work hours.
“This project is expected to last several weeks and will require detours for motorists who typically drive through this area as part of their commute,” Shin Angulo said. “It’s important to be aware of the project in advance and plan ahead for any expected delays. Motorists can expect sudden stops, shifting traffic patterns, and other changing conditions in the area surrounding construction. Additionally, you should be extra cautious and attentive when driving near construction crews and vehicles.”
From the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. crews will completely close River Rd. between Lennox Rd. and Union Ave. Union Ave. will also close between River Rd. and Haines Rd. Motorists will be directed along a posted detour route to circumvent the affected roadway.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of work hours on Friday, Nov. 13. Scheduling and project timing is dependent on weather and may be adjusted due to unforeseen events.
