Saint Nicholas Visits Burrough-Dover House On December 13

A warm, snug stone house full of the trappings and traditions of the holiday season, from a tree in the parlor, luminaria in the yard, a warm fire at the hearth and a special visitor dressed all in red and bearded in white—this is the annual present of Pennsauken Historical Society to the community to conclude the historical events of the year!

Join the officers and volunteers of your Pennsauken Historical Society, along with your own friends and neighbors, for an old-fashioned evening of holiday cheer and fun on Friday, Dec. 13, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the historic Burrough-Dover House off Haddonfield Rd., across from the Wyndam Rd. light.

Glowing luminaria light the path from convenient parking to the parlor door where the festivities begin.  Enjoy the holiday cheer and raise your cup to the coming new year, as we exchange best wishes of the season with those we hold dear.

Decked out in greens and boasting a glowing evergreen tree standing over the toys and gifts of the Dover family in Victorian splendor, the fancy parlor also rings with the melodies and merriment of the holiday as the carolers of the Historical Society take up where they left off one year ago. Warming refreshments and the scents of cookies, candles and crackling coals supply the welcome atmosphere of the holidays celebrated in our community for centuries past.

For the kids and the kids at heart among us, a few words with the special guest from the North Pole also provides a free photo opportunity beside the stocking-hung fireplace. The holiday visit to historic Burrough-Dover House guarantees an evening worthy of memory.

Admission and parking to this special holiday event at Burrough-Dover House is free of charge. Holiday mementos of our historic homes to ornament your own home for the season will be available for purchase. Donations both to defray costs and to support our historical work are always greatly appreciated. Pennsauken Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Membership and volunteer opportunities are also available for you, so resolve to get involved in your Township heritage in the new year!

Burrough-Dover House is located at 9201 Burrough-Dover Lane, off Haddonfield Rd. opposite the Wyndam Rd. traffic light.
