Saying Goodbye To Pennsauken Friends
By Sonora R. Miller, MLS
It is with deep sadness that I tell you all that within several days of reading this, I will be ending my time at the Pennsauken Library and moving to New York State to embark on a new adventure.
I have recently accepted a full-time position as the director of the Royalton Hartland Community Library in Middleport, NY. Middleport is a small town right on the Erie Canal, very close to where I grew up, and just a handful of miles from Niagara Falls and the Canadian border. And it’s the prettiest part of the country you’ll ever see—vineyards, orchards, dairy farms and clear night skies filled with stars.
As many of you know, I am not originally from Pennsauken, and this position will give me the opportunity to return to my roots. I will be available to care for my family, and to start my own with my partner, a local farmer and beekeeper extraordinaire. I am tremendously excited to be able to finally bring my personal and professional lives together to one place.
If you are ever in the upstate New York area on your way to Niagara Falls, please feel free to stop by the Royalton Hartland Community Library. You’re welcome to drop in anytime to bring Pennsauken news and make my day. No doubt, you’ll find me running children’s programs, teen and adult programs and connecting the library to its residents.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to have worked with the entire community of Pennsauken for the past eight years, and I will miss everyone terribly. Pennsauken folks, you have welcomed me, taken me under your wing and taught me more about community, respect and love than I ever thought possible. I have been blessed to be your librarian, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
