Sunday, May 4, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., historic Griffith Morgan Homestead will be decked out in all its elegance with the colonial kitchen and fancy parlor welcoming guests to partake in the civilized, and delicious, custom of taking tea! For many years past, the spring tea around Mother’s Day was among the most popular traditions of the old homestead, and why not? Whether black or green or Earl Grey hot or varied herbal teas, the tradition of a refreshing pause with sweet and savory treats in the afternoon dates back to the founding of the colonies and the nation.
This celebration of the season also includes the color and aroma of the flowers that bloom in the spring! Visitors are invited to create their own spring bouquets to take home and enjoy.
Admission to Griffith Morgan Homestead and parking are both free. To help defray the costs of this special event, a suggested donation of $10 for the spring tea and $5 for the bouquet will be graciously accepted or participate in both tea and bouquet for a suggested donation of $12.
Guided or unguided tours of the old homestead of Griffith and home of Alexander Morgan are available and exhibits of the early history of our community are on display. Memberships in Pennsauken Historical Society and volunteer opportunities are available for you to help to support, participate, and perpetuate our local history and heritage.
Griffith Morgan Homestead is located at 423 Griffith Morgan Lane, off River Rd. just outside residential Delair.
