Local Artists Invited To Display Work At Two Events This Spring
Local area artists are encouraged to display their original works in various media at two separate events this spring, sponsored by the Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library.
Friends Of The Library Hold Fundraiser, Art Show
The Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library will be the beneficiary of a “Dine to Donate” fundraiser food extravaganza on Wednesday, April 17, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Silver Diner, 2131 Rt. 38 in Cherry Hill, across from the Cherry Hill Mall. Bring your appetite and as many friends as you want; let the servers know you’re there for the Friends of Pennsauken Library; and 20 percent of your total bill will be donated to the Friends at no cost to you.
Art Show Held April 29 – May 5
Art projects are soon due for our annual Art Show and Sale, held April 29 through May 5. Entries will be accepted at the Library for all art work on Thursday, April 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.; and on Friday, April 26, from noon to 5:00 p.m. Art projects fall into many categories – charcoal, pastels, watercolor, oils, fabric, wood, metal, papier-mâché – so take your pick. All entries will be on display in the Community Room throughout the week during regular library hours, culminating in a Meet the Artist reception on Sunday, May 5, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Participating artists must be residents of Pennsauken or Merchantville in age groups from eighth grade through adult. You can find all the particulars of getting your entry ready for the show in the Art Show booklet on the lobby desk.
While all the art projects remain on display throughout Art Week, we have a wonderful repertoire of workshops and how-to sessions scheduled. They’ll all take place in the Community Room as well. Be sure to register for each workshop you’ll be attending on the sign-up sheet at the Circulation Desk, though; space is limited and on a first come, first served basis. Here’s what’s planned:

By Arlene Miller, Friends of the Pennsauken Free Public Library
Even if April showers dampen your outside plans, all the activities lined up by the Friends of the Pennsauken Library will add lots of sunshine to your days. The Friends’ annual Art Show runs April 17-24. There’s still time to create something wonderful to register and display; you’ll find all the details in the Art Show brochure currently available at the Library’s lobby desk. During the Art Show, the Friends’ are sponsoring a variety of activities all week long. As space is limited, you’ll need to sign up at the Library’s circulation desk in advance; and except for that Monday’s children’s workshop, all children be at least 10 years of age or older and accompanied by a responsible adult for the entire session.
