To many, they’re known simply as “Mr. and Mrs. Macaro.” And that’s just fine for Jon and Sharon Rush, who have owned Macaro’s Deli and Catering for the past 25 years. It means that the rich tradition generated from a small deli that opened close to 60 years ago on Westfield Ave. – one they’ve helped to perpetuate and grow – is just as fresh today as the ingredients on one of their hoagies.

The goal of the newly opened My Little Sweet Tea Parties in Pennsauken is to give little girls the best birthday ever, while giving parents a break from the stress of putting together a party at home.

Longtime Pennsauken resident Sue McCleery has lived in the Chadwick section of town for over 12 years. And while she’s a trained paralegal and has worked as a realtor, her real knack is putting together one-of-a-kind events for a child’s special day.

MPWC Guest Speakers At PMAC Luncheon On April 13

PMAC_LogoMike Saraceni and Sean Fitzgerald of the Merchantville-Pennsauken Water Commission (MPWC) will be the guest speakers at the upcoming networking luncheon sponsored by the Pennsauken-Merchantville Area Chamber of Commerce (P.M.A.C.) on Wednesday, April 13 at the Pennsauken Country Club, 3800 Haddonfield Rd.

Saraceni, who serves the MPWC as chief operating officer, and Fitzgerald, a water quality technician for the water utility, will highlight the organization’s efforts to maintain quality of life of local residents and businesses while protecting water as a valuable resource. In light of the water crisis in Flint, Mich., Saraceni and Fitzgerald intend to answer questions about water quality.

Maa’s Furniture Store Opens On Westfield

Pennsauken Mayor John Kneib and members of the Township’s Economic Development Department were on hand for the official ribbon cutting of Maa’s Furniture, located on 5921 Westfield Ave. The store, which opened in early February of this year, offers a wide variety of furniture and bedding.

United Way, The Work Group Unveil Innovative Job Skills Training Venture

United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and The Work Group, along with partners including the Campbell Soup Company, Holman Automotive Group, Investors Bank, Roma Bank, Fulton Bank and the Jewish Community Fund, recently unveiled Thrift Works, an innovative job skills training initiative. The retail venture, located at 3700 Marlton Pike in Pennsauken, will serve as a training center to equip students of The Work Group with valuable, real-life job training and experience – empowering them to build the foundation for lifelong financial stability – while providing an affordable shopping opportunity to the local community.

Local Business Holds Coat Donation Drive

Pennsauken Car Show A Roaring Success

The 23rd Annual Pennsauken Car, Bike and Craft Show varoomed into town Sept. 20 with almost 200 classic cars and a few dozen souped-up-to-the-max motorcycles.

A gorgeous late-summer day greeted the 2,000-plus crowd that attended the event, as did the aroma of barbecued burgers and dogs, various kids activities, and a small group of Mummers who strutted their way down Maple Ave.
